Meet Your Counsellor: Sabira Vadakkethil

PhD Scholar (Psychology) | MSc, BSc Counselling Psychology Faculty, Minority Welfare Directorate

Welcome to the Counselling Cell at Seethi Sahib Memorial (SSM) Polytechnic College. We believe that mental health is the foundation of academic success and personal excellence.

Our Consultant Counsellor, Sabira Vadakkethil, provides a professional yet empathetic bridge for students navigating the challenges of technical education and young adulthood. With her extensive background in psychology and her ongoing doctoral research, Sabira offers a safe, "no-judgment" zone where students can unpack their worries—be it academic stress, personal anxiety, or relationship hurdles.

This service focuses on helping students overcome the specific pressures of polytechnic life, such as complex lab work, exam anxiety, and time management. We provide practical strategies to turn academic "pressure" into "productivity" through mental discipline and focus techniques.

Cognitive-Behavioural Skill Building:

Utilizing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), this service helps students identify unhelpful thought patterns that lead to fear or low self-esteem. By reframing these thoughts, students learn to develop healthy coping skills and a positive mindset that they can apply to their daily lives and future careers.

A holistic and confidential support system for individuals and families. This area focuses on life-related challenges, including interpersonal relationships and emotional regulation, while strictly adhering to ethical practices and respecting the diverse cultural backgrounds of our campus community.
